Session Recap: The Sofia vampire group had discussed getting together on the follow Wednesday (Feb 8th), 6:30pm at Brian's house. Unfortunately, we were one player short because Jamie has extensive school work to complete and could not join us.

Brian and Kate began the first session of the the current story called: Story 31 - Fire in the Hole!.

The session started with Brian's character pursuing a lead on one of the Century List artifacts - Markov's Meat Mallet (Item 90). His search took him to a particularly old section of Oberishte in search of Markov's 19th century butcher-shop. He and his ghouls arrived to discover the former butcher-shop has been renovated into a twenty-first century candy shop.

The owner seemed nice enough and the workers unremarkable, but a tour of the basement storage level revealed a the building to be a Haunt. Later that night after dominating the owner to leave the door open, Prince Brian entered the building and descended to the haunted basement, there he cut open a formerly bricked up doorway. Immediately after doing so, a black, oily liquid began to spew out onto the basement floor and when addressed it took humanoid form. Brian quickly used the Sepulchre Path to dominate it into answer questions. But prior to that, the evil ghost of Markov summoned others of its kind (Specters: see Wraith the Oblivion).

During the interview, two other evil ghosts arrived and disposed of two of Brian's ghouls bodyguards, then they proceeded to try cutting off his escape. Brian commanded the evil ghost of Markov back into the room from which it had escaped and confronted the pair of summoned evil dead. Here he begins to realize the extent of his true danger and flees with his one remaining, unconscious ghoul guard. Outside the building, he calls his minions and they cordon off the building and arrange for it to be flooded so that no one will enter the building anytime soon. This is a short term solution, but as a band-aid, it works for the time being.

Meanwhile, Madame Fifika discovers one of her Romany employees, the accountant has been turned to stone - presumably by the 'Weeping Angel'. She arranges for a cover story and has him buried in the Romany Graveyard in the foothills behind the carnival. Then she begins an exhaustive search of her library on the Angelus Lacrimarum or Angel of Tears, ultimately, she finds very little. From the rumors of Fakulteta and the historical documents of 'Old Sofia,' she determines that the creature has been in Sofia since the year 1000 A.D. Further research reveals that the Angelus tends to linger near the foothills of Fakulteta on the western edge of Sofia.

During her research, Madame Fifika also notices that the Angelus tends to hang around churches, so she starts an exhaustive investigation of the Orthodox churches in the area around Fakulteta. During her search, she notices that the Angelus has been noticed by the mortals of previous centuries as its basic form or inferences to it are artistically depicted in the churches she visits.

At the last church she visits, she encounters the Nosferatu cleric - Father Kliment. Kliment is the second oldest surviving childe of Emil na Pes, the Nosferatu Primogen. The ancient and withered sewer rat priest has been 'watching' her, a curious circumstance considering that he is obviously blind. They converse and she admits she is looking for someone or something. Father Kliment offers to help and they meet early the next night to go and speak to someone the sewer rat knows who may be able to illuminate them.

Father Kliment and Madame Fifika hike into the foothills west of the carnival to the ill kept shack of Stevo the Geek, an outcast Rom sorcerer who still manages to eke out a basic existence despite his banishment. Stevo welcomes the undead duo after receiving a bribe from Madame Fifika. Though obviously loath to discuss the Angel of Tears, he does so after wheedling the promise of a million dollars from Gypsy Vadomma; a sum he says will allow him to escape his poverty and live out a decent existence safe from the possible retaliation of the Angelus.

Note: Though Morgan asked repeatedly to play, I decline to let him do so because Jamie as storyteller had stipulated a stronger division of city settings and of coteries and after due consideration I agreed.
