Rusen Peynirci
Rusen has made a career out of finding and publicising dangerous secrets held by powerful people and corporations. In doing so, he earned just enough publicity to make dissappearing him uncomfortable. Over the years, he has earned the Turkish version of Pulitzer prizes, international accolades, and up to 124 death-threats per day. A few of these last hold pride of place among his trophies. More damaging is that everyone who has started to get close to him in the last two and a half years has received threatening calls and letters as well.
In August, 2016, Rusen witnessed something that defied even his jaded sensibilities: Undead warriors and sorcerers murdering each other and more than a dozen innocent passers-by in downtown Istanbul. Then, witnesses began to disappear, and Rusen panicked. He did a poor job of faking his own death, then, more wisely, approached a government official in charge of secrets. Since then, he has been protected, but watched far more closely than he is comfortable with. He has been able to track down the remaining witnesses, and been greatly dismayed with the results: People forgot the unforgettable, truly changed their minds over night, and many more disappeared. From there, Rusen contacted the few honest police investigators he knew, and gave them what he had found. All the evidence points to a massive conspiracy that goes far beyond national borders.
Things got worse when the high-security mansion he was being hidden in was attacked by a small group of people wielding inexplicable weapons (or maybe powers?). Somehow, no one was killed, but the guard dogs were completely drained of blood. Rusen is now being held - for his own protection - in the middle of a high-security military base in central Turkey. He still has full internet access.
