Vratsa boasts about 235,000 people. About 63,000 live in the capital, situated in the far southwest corner of the province. The region's economy is based on a variety of light industry, including a partially de-commissioned Soviet era nuclear power plant in Kozloduy on the Danube.

The northern half of the province is considered un-inhabitable due to a high concentration of Werewolves that seem to be concentrated around the Vrachanski Balkan Natural Park. Fortunately for the residents of Vratsa, they seem more intent on protecting their territory and attacking the nuclear facility than expanding southward.

The City of Vratsa is controlled by a Tzimisce Voivode known as Queen Lada. She claims the province of Montana as well as her own domain, through some centuries old familial dispute. Lada has extensive contacts among the many Koldun of the clan, whom she charges for safe passage to the Ledinika Cave and other sites of power, 16 km into the mountains near Vratsa.
