Avatar: The Godhead

Introduction

Avatars as divine beings, as such they are intrinsically connected to warp and weft of reality, and through their connection to the divine they can perceive changes in the local environment brought on by the presence of other supernatural beings or effects. Players can make a Perception + Awareness roll for their Avatars to feel-out the nearby area for supernatural influences. A temple dedicated to healing might give-off feelings of pain and suffering or hope and loss felt by the priests and their patients over the course of their lives. A nondescript wine-cellar might reek of the foul rituals performed their a few days ago.

In addition, an astute Avatar can sense the expenditure of supernatural energies in her general vicinity. The fabric of reality is distorted momentarily when powers are used and divine beings can sense the distortion as it ripples outward. The more perceptive Avatars can track the use of supernatural powers back to their place of origin whether it is still ongoing or ended recently.

Avatars can sense the use of supernatural powers within an area in miles equal to their Divinity score (so an Avatar with a Divinity of 5 could sense supernatural events within a 5 mile radius). If a character wishes to sense mystical energies at work in the area, they need to make a successful Perception + Alertness roll (difficulty 7). If the roll succeeds, the character detects the momentary distortion caused by the supernatural powers being used. Additional successes provide further details.

Three Successes: The Avatar knows without a doubt the direction from which the distortion emanates, and he has a rough idea of the distance.

Four or More Successes: The Avatar knows precisely
