Trinketry
Darkness on the power of the unicorn horn:
"Did you think this a mere plaything?"
"With it, my empire is eternal!"
"Before I ruled only the night."
"Now, my minions will frolic in darkness until the end of time"
-- Legend 1985.
Trinketry: An Introduction
The dictionary definition of trinket is a small ornament, usually jewelry, of little value. The arcane definition diverges in that Trinkets can be of any size, may be ugly, plain or highly attractive, but have inherent occult properties.
Such items may be spontaneous in that they came into being during a time of mystic significance or they may be created with occult intent.
Furthermore the occult properties of trinkets, positive or negative, are called complications in honor of the inner workings of clocks and watches.
The art of Trinketry, a method developed by Kiasyd collector of occult artifacts, allows the user to identify Trinkets from other rubbish or collectables and to define their inherent complications and how those properties function together.
As the discipline progresses the vampire learns how to create Trinkets on his own or to move or modify complications in Trinkets.
"Magic horn is mine, mine, mine!"
"Now all creatures will love the night, and worship goblins as divine."
-- Blix, chief goblin, Legend 1985.
● Goblin Prospecting
The Kiasyd can detect magic items in the near vicinity to the vampire. The power doesn't necessarily find the items, but leaves the vampire with a sensation for the location and power of nearby items.
System: the vampire rolls his Perception + Awareness difficulty 6 to detect nearby items. The more successes the greater area and number of items the Kiasyd can detect. A Botch results in the Kiasyd being blasted by the ambient magic aura of the area, being unable to use Trinketry for 1-10 hours after the botch.
