Sobriquet: Marc (American Batard)

Appearance: 5'11", medium build. Marc wears relaxed clothes, jeans and tee-shirts most of the time.

Behavior: Marc is a nice guy, frequently sad and quiet. He carries a heavy burden of grief and sadness.

History: Marc Livingston was a caitiff scrounge living in Paris. He had begun showing considerable skill in the playing of the Oboe, an instrument he had played for years before coming to Paris. While a Batard, he had attracted the attention of some in the Toreador clan.

Marc Livingston had been an American who came to France to visit and vacation. Marc had only been in Paris a few days when he met a beautiful woman named Chantel. Convinced he was in love, Marc applied for an extended visa for France. Marc went to work in the Hotel Comique as a janitor, and got an apartment in the 2nd arrondissement. She was a dancer at a show in the 4th.

They moved in together, and Marc was learning French at a rapid pace with Chantel to teach him. Marc next picked up a second job as an oboe player in the orchestra at the theater where Chantel was dancing. The maestro didn’t really like him, because he was American, but tolerated him because he was a talented player. One night after the show in 1990 it all went wrong.

Leaving the theater, Marc and Chantel were besotted with each other, holding hands and talking of their impending marriage. The two of them had attracted the attention of a vampire. The vampire followed the two of them, stalking them. Jealous of their happiness, she followed them into their building and apartment, using her obfuscate to watch them unseen. Just as they were getting undressed, kissing and hugging the vampire struck. She made fast passes with her knife, cutting each of them once. She then knocked them both out, and tied Chantel up. The vampire then embraced Marc, giving him only enough blood to bring him back. She then tied him up with old rope, and left the two of them together in the apartment. When Marc awoke in frenzy, he killed Chantel in his hunger. He never forgave himself.

Marc managed to survive as a caitiff in the city. It was difficult, and most of time he was depressed, and morose. His depression kept him from playing. But over time his need to express his loss, he began to play his instrument again. With his vampiric passion, he was able play at a very intense level. Several Toreador had begun to comment on how this Batard seemed to have some talent.

Rest in Peace: Marc was killed in April of 2040.
