History: Mariam Hall was born in 1952. She is Tremen younger sister, the middle child who developed strong religious tendencies after a near fatal fever; she dreamed of God and He told of her calling. Early on she became a nun, later when her education and interpretation of scripture led her into conflict with the Church she walked away to become a professor of religious history at Chicago’s most prestigious university. She married and had two children of her own: Peter and Paul. Her ex-husband Philip Kane committed suicide; so she changed back to her maiden name.
