Main Page -x- Level One Rituals -x- Level Two Rituals

Description: This ritual allows the necromancer to call upon the attentions of the darker forces of the Underworld through the true names of the evil dead. When the true names of the evil dead are spoken aloud, the target of the necromancer become the subject of their attention and suffers accordingly. There is no specified effect associated with the successful casting of this ritual, the cruel jests of the wicked dead vary each time and are not under the control of the necromancer. Only the victim can perceive the whispered taunts, spectral gropings, noxious odors, vile tastes or fleeting apparitions and those around him or her may well believe that the victim is insane.
Origin: This kind of ritual is ancient and many variants exist.
Ingredients: The true name of a specter.
Casting: The necromancer must be able to see the victim of this curse and must speak the true name of a specter. The voicing of this ritual need not be more than a mouthing of the words.
System: The player rolls Intelligence + Rituals at a difficulty of four (4) and expends a point of temporary willpower. This is a fast-cast ritual, but it obviously takes a mental action and it can be cast in combat. Each success equates to one of the five senses that the specter can affect without effort; victims of this ritual suffer a +1 difficulty modifier to all actions for the remainder of the night due to spectral cruelty.
Reference: I based the system and difficulty modifier for this ritual on the Thaumaturgic Path of Curses on pages 78-80 of Blood Magic: Secrets of Thaumaturgy.
