Discipline Techniques

Auspex 5, Obfuscate 3.

Astral Projection has the annoying limit that the vampire's disembodied mind cannot affect the material world, and even the faintest visible manifestation requires great effort. Through this combination power, a vampire still cannot affect material objects - but she can make other people imagine that they see and speak to her.

A Psychic Double looks as real and solid as the user wants, and can converse with people normally. It may even feel solid to anyone who touches it, though it cannot affect physical objects in any way, nor does it appear in mirrors, photographs or any other imaging method.

Of course, as a manifestation of Obfuscate, it is easily detectable as an illusion to those whose Auspex is stronger than the user's Obfuscate.

System: The vampire uses Astral Travel as normal, including all rules for willpower expenditure and finding the desired location. Evoking a psychic image that is identical to the vampire automatically succeeds. Appearing as someone else calls for a Manipulation + Performance roll (difficulty 7), just as with Mask of a Thousand Faces.

A character with Psychic Double does not have to project a visible image - it may appear and disappear at will, with no cost. Each time the character attempts to manifest a disguise, the character must re-roll Manipulation + Performance.

Although Psychic Doubles cannot affect physical things, certain other disciplines that may be used from astral form may be used normally. Mental powers that do not require touch, such as Presence, Dementation, Dominate, other powers of Auspex and Obfuscate, the non-physical powers of Valeren, and even Obtenebration may be used normally.

XP Cost: 35.
