Back to Brian's Thaumaturgy Spell Book
Description: This ritual bonds the life force of a supernatural being and a vampire. In the bonding each being shares each other's soul. This causes them to be able to go beyond their normal power level.
Created by: Mac, Cloudwalker and Chelsea
Ingredients: Salt, Vellum, Quill Pen, and prepared candle
Casting: The caster and intended Consort sit in a circle of salt. The two exchange information about themselves, writing it upon vellum in the caster's blood. All information must be true as the people know it, and includes personal secrets of the highest order. After a 6 hour cast the scribing is finished with the exchange of the true names of both people. The vellum is slowly burned by the candle flame, binding the souls of the two people.
System: Caster rolls Int + Rituals (Dif 8) Only one success is needed. Caster must spend a temporary willpower to have ritual last for year and day, or spend a permanent will power for the to be permanent.
Primary effect: The benefits are that each person can choose one power (Discipline, Art, Arcanos, Gift, Sphere) that will go above their max by one point.
Secondary effects: Due to the nature of the sharing of the souls each consort will gain some of the effects of the other.
- Two small items directly related to nature of supernatural being. (E.g., bonding with a living being may allow the vampire to eat food.)
- The bonded will gain the ability to soak lethal damage and is no longer affected by aging. They will also get any problems related the vampiric condition(ie mages magic might be more static, more banality for changlings)
- Consorts' auras will also display as combinations of the two supernatural types being bonded; the vampire's aura will still be recognizably vampire, but with obvious features of the others type, and vice versa.
Notes: If either of the bonded dies, the remaining of the pair must make a willpower roll Difficulty 6. Each failures results in a loss of a permanent willpower point.
Balance notes(circa 5/2013): As this is being discussed I wanted to note a couple of things. This ritual does one thing and one thing only. Bonds two souls together for the purpose of raising the power level of both party's. Everything else is what was deemed realistic after effects of two supernaturals sharing souls and is therefore subject to debate (including that they would not be the same for any pair of people) I detailed a system here but the ritual itself still has only one purpose.
