Description: The Ossein Nathair or the Bone-Maggot takes two distinct forms, active and petrified. When active the Bone-Maggot is about three and half feet long and despite its name is more of a giant-slug than a true maggot. Its epidermis is off-white like aging ivory and its hide is segmented like a true worm. To the touch is is slippery with slime which it secretes from both its pores and its other orifices and it tends to wrap itself about its holder's arm which it clutches with thousands of tiny legs.
In a pinch the Ossein Nathair can summon tremendous speed to escape potential harm and is very flexible and capable of squeezing into relatively small or innocuous spaces. Most of the time it is sluggish and cantankerous at being disturbed from its rest and when active usually spends time hunting small prey which it snares with slime from its razor filled maw. It makes its way from place to place with its four tentacle like antenna which provide it with considerable awareness of its surroundings. When active, it needs to be fed once a day like all living things and behaves better if stroked regularly.
When scared or commanded to do so, the Bone-Maggot can harden its epidermis to the consistent of bone. When the Ossein Nathair becomes defensive it enters a regenerative state where its metabolism slows almost to death, it even emits a noxious scent to ward off predators which discourages carrion eaters. The smell is unpleasant to humans, but to those with a truly keen sense of smell it is repulsive in the extreme and the taste is simply too vile to describe. However in its defensive state the Bone-Maggot turns over its supernatural sense of direction and tracking to the mortal or god with whom it is currently paired. The Bone-Maggot possesses a higher animal intelligence similar to a parrot or dolphin, but with the personality of an angry or hungry ground-hog.
Powers: The Bone-Maggot has abilities approximate to JOURNEYS (••), which include an innate sense of direction and tracking, the ability to trace certain kinds of communications, and the potential to remove simple obstacles or circumstances that obstruct travel. The Ossein Nathair is a eldritch creature and possesses a reserve of divine energy equal to a Divinity (••) and a Momentum (••).
