Your writing is as always superb.  You capture the other-worldliness of Astarte and Niflheim in a way that evokes a chill, no pun intended.  I cleaned up a couple spelling mistakes...and I think clarified your meaning in one place.  If I got it wrong and you don't like it, by all means fix it.    '''Keith, 20:25 MST 1/28/2018'''

My goal as always is to entertain and your criticism, positive or negative helps refine my writing style, so thank you for the pressure needed to improve and the feedback that is vital to perfecting the art. -- "The Magister 11:44, 21 December 2019 (MST)"

I think this is important: At the time of the Lunar Circus' arrival, Kurva Város had been been led by council of merchants who were advised by a lone sorcerer who called himself Azharil Zaman. Both the council of Kurva Város and their advisor had welcomed the newcomers to the town and for a time all had been well. But the Azharil Zaman had seen in the Circus a vessel for his ambitions and likewise, member of the circus who were dissatisfied with their Master of Ceremonies had colluded with the Azharil Zaman in the hopes of replacing their insane leader.

+

+ Apparently, this plot had not worked out for the conspirators within the circus, bu Azharil Zaman had broken the council and assumed supreme authority. In the process, the newly minted sorcerer-king had planed to steal the treasures of the Lunar Circus, but in the chaos of his coup the circus escaped into the eastern desert.

+

+ The focal point of this otherworldly history lesson was this, when the circus had been here last, the peoples of Whore Town had been made up of diverse ethnic groups as different from each other as from the peoples of Midgard.

I ate mechanically as Theodoric spoke. +

+

“Aegon, do you remember what I told you of this world, of why the forgotten gods fled this place so long ago?” +

+

I offered only silence. +

+

“It was a result, intentional or otherwise of the continuous gods-war, a disease or infestation that transmogrified all it touched. An insidious taint that not even the forgotten gods could eradicate, which was why they sealed off Erdach Kodesh from the rest of the cosmos." +

+

I made a noncommittal animal sound as I ate, but offered nothing else and he continued as if I hung on his every word. +

+

“Would you believe me if I told you it was here, now, in this very café with us?” +

+

The Storyteller knew his audience and his craft, I damned him from inside my mind while admiring his skill in manipulation. The last of the food lay ignored on the tray as I pretended to sip my wine.
