Jeremy assists his sire in examining the changes that are being made to the timeline by the interference of the Tremere, and begin to make plans about counteracting them. In preparation, Numerius accelerates time to awaken Milan from torpor. Benesj discovers how Khateb Zek chose to interpret his orders, and resolves to teach the "effrit" a lesson.
Before he has begun to recover from torpor, Milan is contacted in his dreams by a koldun who tries to discover the identity of the Tal'Ma'Reh's stronghold from him. The entity is discovered to be ..., a 4th generation childe of Tzimisce. Benesj and Milan are ordered by their sire to avoid the Sophia valley.
