Rank 3 Thaumaturgy, based on spirit magics.
This ritual uses the essence of the living umbra to pull a person or object spiritually further from the realm of the dead, protecting it from the senses of wraiths and other people in the Shadowlands.
System: The thaumaturge must infuse a mystical blend of pigments and powdered gold, silver and garnet, with the light of the sun. Once mixed, the concoction must be left in a natural environment for the duration of a day. Though a natural environment such as a forest or meadow is best, but a park, zoo, or other natural urban refuge will do in a pinch: This imposes a +1 difficulty to the ritual roll.
Once prepared, the pigment is used to paint a rune on one object or amulet which can be worn by a person. The object or person cannot be sensed by those across the Shroud for one night per success the caster achieves on the standard Intelligence + Rituals roll, or until the amulet or rune is removed.
Casting this ritual prepares enough pigment to protect one object or prepare one amulet. If the protected person or object enters the Shadowlands or other realm infused with death-energy, the ritual immediately fails.
This ritual is intended as a prelude to protecting entire rooms and buildings from the sight of wraiths.
