Melnik

Architecture Style

The term stadium is a poor translation, a better one would be ball-park as this football field lies at the eastern end of the town's main street. A simple, flat, dusty field that is 140 meters (460 feet) long and is 84 meters (275 feet) wide.

There is a 'Club House' at the south-western corner of the field. On the side facing the field, there is a concession stand and veranda for watching the games in the spring and summer months. In the center of the building there is a simple two team locker-room, a stone-lined group shower area and a surprisingly comfortable, medium sized steam-room and lavatories. The rear of the building comprises a simple office and several storage rooms for football equipment.

History of the Building

The 'Club House' was built in the early 1980s as a communist community building project, unfortunately, the local communist party ran out of funds before completely leveling and laying out the foot-ball field. So for the last 36 years it has remained in a fairly rough condition. In the spring it is fairly green and there is a basic sprinkler system for watering the field, but in the late summer heat, no amount of water can green the field and it turns brown and dusty. The local teams are used to this and the town's children don't care at all.
