This name derives from the Old High German “Werdheri”, composed of two elements: “*warduz” (guard, defend, protect) and “*harjaz” (army, army leader, commander, warrior). One could surmise from the name that Werdheri was Germanic shaman, sorcerer or priestly demonologist who collected all 666 entries on the Lords and ladies of Chaos, their proper names, and the summoning rituals needed to conjure them on this plane.
