Glasgow / Tremere

Background Every era has its injustices, and young Kathleen felt those of the Renaissance to a greater degree than most. The daughter of a well-to-do merchant family, her brothers were encouraged to excel in arts, business, scholarship. Kathleen was required to look pretty. The injustice of it all particularly rankled on those occasions when she was beaten and deprived of meals for sneaking a look at her brother's schoolbooks. That she was caught less often as she grew up reassured her father and uncles. If they new the truth, they would have been horrified: The quick-witted young girl had found a patron.

Under the guise of entering a convent, she was whisked away first to London, then to Austria, Stutgardt, and finally Remis, to pursue her education. There, she was embraced from the cup before the assembled Chantry.

Unlife was a bit more challenging for young Miss Horsburgh. While most Tremere are free to coddle or abuse their chattel as they see fit, a full-blooded Tremere must follow rules and obey social morays. Mentor and Childe were soon parted, bound for far-distant chantries, and Kathleen was left to pursue her continued education in the misogynistic atmosphere of the ivory tower.

Today, Kathleen runs a quiet chantry, helping to ensure Tremere influence in the British Isles. Her apprentices are often her childer, selected for their unnoticed brilliance, and carefully nurtured before they are sent out to other parts of the world. Indeed, it is surprising how many mid-level apprentices remember their time under her tutelage fondly. The chantry's most recent apprentice was removed prematurely to shore up Tremere losses elsewhere in the Isles.
