History: It is often said that destiny has a sense of humor, and in the case of Elie Sansaricq, this is most certainly true.
Elie was born with the setting sun, one evening in late December to a African woman in the slave quarters of Madame la Borde's plantation several miles east of the settlement of Port-au-Prince - the year was 1750.
