History: Ventrue antitribu childe of Yong-Sung Chang. Moon-shadow was born in the highlands of Laos during late 1960s as the Hmong people were struggling against the communists for control of the government of Laos. Her father, a famed Hmong warrior took American money to wage war against the communists and lost. He sacrificed himself to a torturous death so that his family could escape Laos. Moon-shadow's uncle was a clever, but less honorable man than her father and took advantage of American sympathies to move his brother's family to New York in the early 1970s. Moon-shadow had been the baby of the family and the apple of her father's eye, she had idolized her father and his way of life; so when the family reach America, she decided to become a warrior like her father. Her mother and siblings tried without success to convince her to behave like a girl-child should, but to no avail. Her uncle, a practical man, arranged for her to study under a number of martial arts masters and in return guaranteed Moon-shadow's good behavior. She was precocious teen, but often ran errands for her uncle, who used her as an unlikely mule; her childlike petite appearance often caused the police and other criminals to overlook her and her skills as a warrior allowed her to escape those who were more discerning. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your point of view, Moon-shadow came to the attention of Yong-Sung Chang, a Camarilla Ventrue from New York who had plans of his own for her. After her Embrace, Moon-shadow had to lay on her funeral bier while all her family and friends wept and mourned in order to successfully fake her death and not draw her family into her personal damnation. Yong-Sung Chang used her as a personal enforcer and bodyguard during the Camarilla takeover of New York. When the rewards for that successful campaign were being handed out, Yong-Sung Chang took both his share and that of his childe and earned an extensive domain in Boston. In Boston, Moon-shadow was set to hunting the Sabbat with more than reasonable success, but during her struggles with the beleaguered Sabbat of Boston she began to learn more about the Sabbat and discovered that they were a community very similar and sharing many of the same values as the Hmong people. Her conversion to the Sabbat was an easy one and she left Boston for Mexico City where she met El Tribunal and became a crusader against infernal heresy.
