Keith: Bruce tell me why Adair is in Covington? Did he get embraced there or did his Sire take him there?

Bruce: An excellent question. The entire coterie was Embraced somewhere in the area of the Western Front in early 1916. We know this because the game began then and it was winter or early spring of 1916. While several French cities in the area would serve as an appropriate setting, Mac never detailed the location of our Embrace, except to say that it wasn't in Paris for fear of angering the Paris vampires. From the details he gave and the overlap with real world events, I think it took place in the French town of Verdun. The Germans made a big deal of trying to take the strategic town for numerous reasons and the fighting was quite intense. It would have been a logical place for a German Nosferatu to select a new coterie from as there would be many dead and dying. One of the details Mac did include was our coterie feeding upon the masses of dead and dying soldiers of a large battlefield. As to why we went to New Orleans, one of our number Jane the Spy was a native and Hans wanted to escape the Old World for America, so New Orleans became the destination. But fearing the sinking of transport ships in the Atlantic by German U-boats, we opted to travel south through France and Spain to North Africa and from there east through the middle-east ultimately to Karachi. The journey took months and upon our arrival we were invited to meet the local prince, an ancient Lasombra of Indian extraction (I assume) whose eldest childe had just been assassinated and he wanted our group of outsider Nosferatu to sniff out the killer because we had nothing to gain by siding with one side or the other in a city we didn't care about. Eventually we discovered it was the next eldest childe who killed his sire's first childe, presumably to obtain the primary position of eldest childe. In the process we made allies of a group of local were-cats, Simba I think who were willing to transport us via a Moon-bridge to Louisiana in return for aiding their were-cat kin there, I think. Anyway, our sire didn't know anything about the vampires of New Orleans and refused to take residence or hunt there until we knew more, so we chose Covington as a rural base from which to scout the city. My character's sibling Roger Sinclair also wanted a rural setting to test the prototype airplane he and our sire created. Thus we needed enough land to create a runway for the airplane to takeoff and land upon. The ladies of our coterie also found the idea of a haunted house as an appealing way to keep away the curious, only to find out that the house they selected really was haunted by a pair of twin girls (shades of the Shining), but one was a specter. A dying old man lived there and wanted to bequeath his estate to a distant family member who lived in Savanna, Georgia. So we undertook a rail journey to Georgia and eventually found and retrieved him. If you want that story, I will try to detail it later. Did that explanation help or confuse you?
