This is the "safe" part of Ugo's library. It is described as containing a fantastic number of innovative (and extremely Corrupt) Necromantic rituals and paths, and almost all of the most common rituals and paths of Thaumaturgy. Utter Destruction of Bonds and Ritual of Holding were both specifically included by Bruce when Morgan was looking into what he could learn as his first rank 6. That said, yes, it would be nice to have this better fleshed out. -Jamie | This is the "safe" part of Ugo's library. Appearance: A dragon's horde of books, scrolls, tablets, personal notes and scraps of paper, and other, odder artifacts.
Background: This collection was assembled by the psychotic Necromancer, Ugo Rosselini. Much of the collection consists of Ugo's own notes and personal creations.
Powers: In the main, it is an extensive reference library, including most common Thaumaturgic paths and rituals (including a handful of rank 6 rituals), and a stunning variety of Necromantic lore, including almost everything ever developed by the Giovanni and much more. For the purpose of developing new rituals, it qualifies as a rank 6 library.
Much of the most potent lore is protected with lesser or greater necromantic curses as took Ugo's whim. Ugo's own creations contain a more insidious series of curses: Anyone who reads his personal correspondence and notes (or tries to affect them with any sort of sorcery) has portions of their own memories overwritten with Ugo's. With the addition of a compulsion to seek out more of these cursed folia and another insidious curse that alters the victim's nature and demeanor to match his own, someone pursuing Ugo's personal discoveries will effectively become Ugo in mind and spirit. This is the (hopefully) last of Ugo's many attempts to ensure his immortality.
Notes:
- Jeremy Sanderson has begun developing a series of rituals to "sanitize" and purge Ugo's influence from these tomes and render the library wholly and safely useable.
Quotation:
All Knowledge Comes At a Price.
Commentary:
Can we flesh this out? I noticed that Jamie has some things on his"to learn" page that list this as a source. As it is part of our library I wanted to do the same thing, but I do not see any source. Want to know what I can learn :) ~Kaitlin
-Jamie
