Vallaki
Population 1,547. The people of Vallaki are almost entirely human, with only an occasional half-Vistani, hal-elf, or Caliban. Nonhumans, if present, are universally travelers and most will go to lengths to conceal their nature from the superstitious inhabitants.
Government
Burgomeister Nicolai Ionelus runs the affairs of Vallaki from an ancient citadel constructed by the Terg during their occupation of Barovia. Among the boyars, Ionelus is widely regarded as Barovia’s canniest burgomeister. Though callous and scheming, he is fairly trustworthy and is known to employ the services of mercenary adventurers for various tasks.
Defense
The Terg citadel also serves as barracks for Vallaki’s sixty soldiers, who also serve as constables. The Burgomeister can call up 400 militia if needed.
