Mental Merits & Flaws / Derangements

2 point Flaw or a Derangement

As a Flaw:
You are unable to remember anything about your past, yourself or your family, though your past might well come back to haunt you. Your origins and the circumstances behind your amnesia are for the Storyteller to determine, and she is encouraged to make it as interesting as possible.

As a Derangement, this affliction is less intense. Amnesiac characters blot out some part of their past, perhaps a horrific incident (for example their Embrace) or even a whole period in their lives. The reasons for this memory loss are almost always stress-related, though physical injury may cause a similar effect. Amnesia usually affects just memory, but in some cases, a character may forget some Abilities and be unable to use them, or be surprised by his ability to do certain things.
