Level 3 Thaumaturgy, based on Hermetic Principles
This ritual is based on extensive study and knowledge of various forms of wards, and a scaled down version of the level 6 ritual Utter Destruction of Bonds. When executed properly, it will weaken or destroy any single ward. Hanging magics that can be affected are the same as those affected by the level 1 ritual Detect Ward.
System: The Thaumaturge must be able to see the ward, or in the case of a ward triggered by sight, must be aware of the ward's exact location. The ritual takes 15 minutes to cast (longer for area affect wards, 1 hour for each ten feet radius), during which the caster chants, and traces Hermetic patterns with a pure iron wire between his fingers (much like a cat's cradle) to neutralize the effect of the ward in question. At the conclusion of the ritual, the caster must tighten the wire around his ring finger, cutting it off. This causes no appreciable damage, but hurts like hell, and requires a Willpower roll at standard difficulty. The number of successes achieved on the ritual reduces the effective number of successes the original caster received when creating the ward. If the level of the ward is greater than 3, successes must first be allocated to bridge the gap between 3 and the level of the ward. Equaling or exceeding the number of successes as the original caster will destroy the ward. This does not prevent the ward from giving any warning it is capable of to the caster, as it will do if affected at all by Rip Ward.
