You have been granted the favor of confession with one of the ranking priests among the Lasombra. This provides you with access to one of the "powers that be" in the clan, as well as providing you with a certain prestige among your equals. After all, it was you who was called to the cathedral, not they.
Of course, given time and the appropriate background, you may become a confessor of this sort, granting you access to all sorts of interesting information - subject to the sanctity of the confessional booth, of course.
