I like the idea of iron (steel) being anathema to fairies (makes guns a not that bad, bullets are mostly lead). But the Fae should be something outside...perhaps a level of human in the bloodline? With a method of absorbing the magic (as a gift, or taken in ritual) from another Fae being possible to become more powerful? I guess I need to read the Changeling stuff more, I have had a hard time getting past the idea of banality. Sounds like fun to explore.
