Some were simply common people taking vengeance for their lost loved ones. Others were touched with fire of the One Above and stalked the undead as their holy mission in life. There have even been mortal monsters who hunted vampires for their cursed vitae with its superlative capacity to heal the gravest of wounds and extend mortal life far beyond its normal limits.

			The following hunters are only the tip of the iceberg. In a city of twenty-two plus million mortals, there are bound to be a number of individuals who hunt the cursed Childer of Caine. It is a well known fact among the undead that New York City is home to at least one Cenaculum belonging to [[The Inquisition]]. In addition to the Inquisition, the [[Arcanum]] a secretive cabal of mortal occultists who seek to decipher the secrets of the undead for their own reasons, are believed to have established a chapter-house somewhere in the city. Certainly these two groups would be more than enough to make unlife difficult for the Kindred of New York, but since the Camarilla's retaking of the Big Apple from the Sword of Caine there have spontaneously appeared a whole new generation of hunters without ties to any past organization of hunters. Ironically, even the Mafia and other groups of organized crime seem to have become involved in the affairs of the undead. Never has the Masquerade been thinner than in the years following the Battle for New York and never has it been more needed if the vampires of New York are to survive the 21st century.
