She combines the dust with Myrrh, wine dregs, silver powder and salt extracted from the tears of a child, allows the mixture to dry and then performs a series of incantations. The result is several drams of whitish powder. The thaumaturge sprinkles the powder on an object of interest to her. If the object is moved while she is not in its presence, the thaumaturge feels a sharp pain in her regrown finger.
