History

Varinia Libidine began life as a virtuous daughter of a aristocratic Roman family. When she entered adolescence she was given to the temple of Vesta to serve as one of her Virgin priestess for life. The position of Vestal Virgin conveyed great prestige both upon the individual and the family from which she sprang and in Roman society offered a woman a position of great authority in an otherwise male dominated society.
