New Republic of Texas
When the Western Alliance War for Independence happened, Texas was at the forefront of the battle. Texans had long spoke loudly of succession from the Union, and with the violence in Houston, and the other events around the country Texas was one of the first to proclaim itself no longer bound by the laws of the United States of America. Texans became the backbone of the western army, supplied from the numerous bases in the Lone Star State. Once the war was brought to a close, and both the Western Alliance and the Federated States had agreed to a cease fire with peace within reach, Texas declared itself a wholley independent nation.
Louisiana declared itself also independent, and free of allegiance to the FAS, despite their diplomatic claim to the port. The Western Alliance offered to annex Louisiana, but this began another roiling argument with the FAS. Louisiana Prime Minister Grist on behalf of the new government petitioned Texas to become a territory of Texas, independent but safe. The Texas legislature took the matter up and on a 125 to 25 vote agreed to the annexation of the Independent State of Louisiana.
