Description: The castle of San Silvestre is a castle located in the municipality of Novés, in the province of Toledo. It sits in the old town of St. Sylvester, of which only the small parish which can be opened on 31 December, and a farmhouse.

Access to the castle can be done from the town of Novés towards Santa Cruz de Retamar. Taking the path out to the left immediately after crossing the bridge over the stream of St. Sylvester, in the direction of some schools. It was built by the commander Gutierrez de Cardenas in the fifteenth century, like the Castle of the Candle (Maqueda).

The castle is small, similar to the castle of Maqueda. The main floor is square and retains three of its walls, one almost complete, which allows us to observe some details of its construction.

The walls have towers cilíndicas based pan at the corners and centers, and the battlements. The crenellated has the special, unique in the province, that has double battlements of masonry and brick, with cross-shaped loopholes in granite and also have the towers, they shoot back front and crossed.

The door is facing east and had to have a drawbridge over the moat that is observed at the foot of the walls. The door has a flag and had a brocket the remaining dogs.

It had no tower. Under the building are preserved two large vaulted rooms as a basement, as long as the building, and there may be more now buried.

It lies in ruins consolidated. It is privately owned and is in an area dedicated, among other activities, cattle farming. It is protected by the Generic Declaration of Decree of April 22, 1949, and Law 16/1985 on Spanish Historical Heritage.
