In his experiments, he was known for his ruthlessness, something that contributed to erosion of his own Humanity. He developed a method of binding the soul of a vampire called Marcello to an automaton resulting in what he called the Motorised Man. He dubbed the proceeding "soulcrafting", and was consumed by the idea to create another intelligent automaton.
