The Brotherhood of Eulis was founded by P. B. Randolph AKA Paschal Beverly Randolph in 1874, taking previously known Occult teachings and structuring them to develop practical skills in automatic writing, crystal and mirror gazing, divination, talismans and Sex magick.
Leaving the Racism of America (as a Free Born Black) he fit into neither White nor Black society in the South, and fared little better in the North, where they found hard to believe educated Blacks existed. In Europe he was received as an American, not a Black and toured Europe and Northern Africa making contact with Alchemists and Magicians of all nationalities.
In France, he collaborated with the famed French Magician Eliphas Levi in reviving the Rosicrucians and organizing the Fraternitas Rosae Crucis or (FRC). He carried Charters from the FRC to America, where his disciple R. Swinburne Clymer published his accumulated work in Quakerstown PA for many years. Papus may also have been a member, or absorbed it's teachings from his Master Eliphas Levi, which he passed on to his own various versions of the Rosy Cross, including L'Ordre Kabbalistique de la Rose Croix (Kabbalistic Order of the Rosy Cross) (OKRC)with Stanislas de Guaita, Emile Dantinne, Joséphin Péladan and Saint-Yves d'Alveydre.
The l'Ordre de Chevaliers Maçons Élus Coëns de l'Univers AKA the Elus Cohens, (Order of the Knight Masons, Elect Priests of the Universe) brought some of these teachings into French Freemasonry, through Martinez de Pasqually, Louis-Claude de Saint-Martin , the Father of the Martinist Order, and Jean-Baptiste Willermoz
It's legacy includes Hermetic Brotherhood of Light AKA the Hermetic Brotherhood of Luxor of Max Theon, DR. Peter Davidson and Thomas Burgoyne, from which the the Church of Light would be created by Burgoyne, Henry and Belle Wagner, and C.C. Zain in 1932. By attracting away members of the Theosophical Society bored with Eastern pronouncements of Non-Self, Luxor forced Madame Blavatsky to open the Esoteric Section of the Theosophical Society, putting Annie Besant in charge of the Western oriented students.
Thus the Brotherhood of Eulis probably is one of the links between the original German Rosicrucians and the French Rosicrucians, who greatly influenced British Freemasonry, Occultism and the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. The German line continued with the German Orden des Gold- und Rosenkreutz, AKA Golden and Rosy Cross AKA the Fraternity of the Golden and Rosy Cross devoted to Alchemy and it's companion Masonic Order, the Order of the Asiatic Brethren which was devoted to Qabalistic ritual.
